Friday, July 25, 2025, will go down in history as the day Nigeria officially took a bold step toward protecting the digital future of its youth. The Youth Data Protection Awareness and Training (YDPAT) program was officially launched in Abuja, hosted by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development in collaboration with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
The event gathered a powerful community of young people, policy makers, digital experts, and dignitaries including the Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Hon. Ayodele Olawande, and Dr. Titilope Gbadamosi, Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiatives (Monitoring and Delivery).
💻 Why YDPAT Matters
In a rapidly digitizing world, protecting personal data and online identity is no longer optional — it is essential. YDPAT is Nigeria’s first national initiative focused on equipping over 5,000 young Nigerians with critical knowledge and tools for data protection, digital safety, and responsible internet use.
This aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, ensuring that Nigerian youth are not only active participants in the digital economy, but also protected and informed ones.
🔥 Highlights from the Launch:
- Engaging panels on data protection and youth empowerment
- Live testimonials from young digital creators and cyber advocates
- Commitment to youth digital inclusion across all geopolitical zones
- Energy-filled sessions on policy, privacy, and possibilities
