Our Story
DR. Titilope Gbadamosi
Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiatives (Delivery and Monitoring).
Nigeria, with over 200 million people, grapples with both challenges and opportunities amid its youthful demographics. As the world’s largest youth population -70% under 30 and 42% under 15, the nation faces a pressing concern: a 34% youth unemployment rate. Contributing to this complexity is the mismatch between job opportunities and the rising number of youths entering the job market annually. This challenge necessitates a comprehensive strategy involving targeted government interventions, encompassing education, vocational training, entrepreneurship support, and technology-driven initiatives. Internationally, the United Nations acknowledges the urgency of addressing global youth development issues, emphasizing data-driven approaches. Despite commendable efforts, Nigeria struggles with the insufficient implementation and monitoring of government programs addressing youth unemployment. This limitation hampers understanding, reflecting a gap between policy intentions and actual outcomes. Recognizing this, the Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiatives (Delivery and Monitoring) is driven to make a difference to promote an active and visible policy of mainstreaming youth perspective in all policies and programs and aligning same with the Renewed Hope Agenda and global goals.
Therefore, in the dynamic landscape of Nigeria’s socio economic and political environment, the role of the Special Assistant on Youth Initiatives (Delivery and Monitoring) to the President is both essential and visionary. This office is driven to make a difference to promote an active and visible system of mainstreaming youth perspective in all programs, projects, and policies while aligning same with the Renewed Hope Agenda and global goals. This strategy document is a compass, guiding efforts to create an inclusive, innovative, and prosperous future for Nigeria’s youth. It calls for collaboration, resilience, and a shared commitment to unlock the vast reservoir of potential plans residing within our administration for young people-potential that, once harnessed, will undoubtedly propel Nigeria to new heights of socio-economic development and global influence.
