Creative Economy Development Fund (CEDF) Phase 2 Now Open!

Nigeria’s federal government, through the Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, has officially launched Phase 2 of the Creative Economy Development Fund (CEDF), featuring a brand-new user-friendly interface that simplifies access to funding.

What’s New in Phase 2

Youth-led and creative businesses across Nigeria—from video gaming, film, music, animation, fashion, publishing, visual arts, culinary arts, tourism, to heritage—can now apply for grants, loans, equity investments up to $100,000 to scale their operations, innovate, and contribute to sustainable economic growth.
Applications are open until September 1, 2025

Recap: Phase 1 Highlights

  • Phase 1 ran from April 28 to June 30, 2025.
  • It focused on mature creative projects seeking $100,000 or more, with project incubation and acceleration activities underway, and disbursements expected starting January 2026.
  • This first phase laid the groundwork for IP-backed financing, opportunity awareness, and capacity building across creative sectors such as film, digital arts, and cultural tourism.

Why This Matters

  • Access to Finance: CEDF opens non-traditional funding routes for creative entrepreneurs—those who typically lack bank collateral.
  • IP as Collateral: For the first time, creators can leverage their intellectual property—music rights, designs, game concepts—as financial assets.
  • Inclusive Growth: From grant-funded social-impact projects to equity-backed high-growth startups, the fund supports diverse creative ventures across Nigeria.
  • Youth Opportunity: This initiative aligns with the Youth Activities Dashboard’s mission of enabling transparency and participation in youth-focused programs nationwide.
